[BLOME, Richard, 1635-1705] : ALDERSGATE WARD AND ST. MARTINS LE GRAND LIBERTY : TAKEN FROM THE LAST SURVEY, WITH CORRECTIONS. [London] : 1755. An attractive antique map of the western fringe of the City of London, running south from the lower end of Goswell Street, past Barbican (now Beech Street), along Aldersgate Street and St. Martin's le Grand, with Noble Street and Foster Lane to the east, St. Botolph Aldersgate and Little Britain to the west. The map is decorated with a baroque cartouche and the names of seventy-two smaller side-streets and alleys are given in a keyed index. Originally produced by Richard Blome in the late seventeenth century, the map remained unpublished until 1720, with the present version originally produced for the part-work edition of John Stow's "A Survey of the Cities of London and Westminster" (London : 1754-1757). £100 To confirm availability and to purchase this map please note the stock number 29719 and go to the database. [BOWEN, Thomas, 1733?-1790] : ALDERSGATE WARD WITH IT'S DIVISIONS INTO PRECINCTS AND PARISHES AND THE LIBERTY OF ST. MARTINS LE GRAND, ACCORDING TO A NEW SURVEY. [London : 1766]. An attractive antique map of the western fringe of the City of London, running from Barbican (now Beech Street) down to Newgate, via Aldersgate Street and St. Martin's le Grand, with Noble Street and Foster Lane to the east, and Little Britain to the west. The map is decorated with a rococo title-piece, the arms of George Nelson (the then alderman), views of the churches of St. Anne & St. Agnes and St. Botolph Aldersgate, and a compass rose. Originally produced for the "London Magazine" for April 1766.
