SHEPHERD, Thomas Hosmer, 1793-1864 : LYON'S INN HALL.

[London : Jones & Co., 1831]. A small antique print of the old Inn of Chancery which used to stand off Wych Street - in a huddle of buildings roughly where Bush House now stands, swept away in the Aldwych-Kingsway redevelopment of the early twentieth century. Engraved by W. Syms or Symms (fl.1829-1831) from original studies (now in the Westminster archives) by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd. Originally produced for Shepherd's part-work series "London and its Environs in the Nineteenth Century" (London : 1829-1832).
Steel line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 112 x 70mm (approx. 4-3/8" x 2-3/4"). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 161/098.
