PRIOR, William Henry, 1812-1882 : THE CHURCH OF ALLHALLOWS, BARKING, IN 1750. [London : 1878 (or later)]. A pleasant antique print of the exterior of the church between Byward Street and Great Tower Street as it looked in the eighteenth century. It was from the tower of All Hallows that Pepys surveyed the ruins of London after the Great Fire - "the saddest sight of desolation". John Quincy Adams was married there in 1797. Engraved from an original sketch by William Henry Prior.
