A handsome antique print - the exterior of the old church of All Hallows Staining on Mark Lane, only the tower of which now survives. Engraved by W. Preston from an original drawing (now in the Guildhall Library) by William Pearson (fl.1798-1813). Originally produced for the part-work series "Architectura Ecclesiastica Londini; being a Series of Views" (London : 1810-1823) - "the first artistically competent and exhaustive illustration of the golden age of London church building" (Adams). An attractive small antique print of the old church, the 15th century tower of which survived the demolition of the rest of the church in 1870. Engraved by James Baylis Allen (1803-1876) from an original study (now in the Museum of London) by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd, the master recorder of nineteenth-century London.
