COLE, Benjamin : THE EAST PROSPECT OF THE PARISH CHURCH OF ALLHALLOWS ON LONDON WALL.

[London : 1772]. A handsome antique print - the original mediaeval church on London Wall. Engraved by Benjamin Cole (fl.1723-1767) and originally produced for the part-work edition of William Maitland's "History of London" (London : 1753-1756) - and here in a slightly later impression dating from 1772.
Copper line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 235 x 181mm (approx. 9-1/4" x 7-1/8"). Cropped tight to neatlines, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 38/064B.

PEARSON, William : ALLHALLOWS LONDON WALL.

[London : J. Booth, 1810]. A well-worked antique print of the George Dance church - and London Wall in the early nineteenth century. Engraved by William Wise (fl.1790-1818) from an original drawing (dated 1810 and now in the British Museum) by William Pearson (fl.1798-1813). Originally produced for the part-work series "Architectura Ecclesiastica Londini; being a Series of Views" (London 1810-1823) - "the first artistically competent and exhaustive illustration of the golden age of London church building" (Adams).
Copper line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 242 x 165mm (approx. 9-3/4" x 6-1/2"). A few faint marks, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

A charming antique print - a lively street scene looking eastwards along London Wall towards Bishopsgate with the church, rebuilt by George Dance the younger in 1765-1777, to the left. Engraved by Archileus Cruse (fl.1829-1834) from an original pencil sketch (now in the Guildhall Library) by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd. From Shepherd's series "London and its Environs in the Nineteenth Century" (London : 1829-1832).
Steel line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 107 x 70mm (approx. 4-1/4" x 2-3/4"). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 161/110.
