Engraved by John James Hinchliff (1805-1875) from an original study by William Henry Bartlett. Originally produced for the much admired part-work series "Ports, Harbours, Watering Places and Coast Scenery of Great Britain" (London 1836-1842).

Steel line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 140 x 188mm (approx. 5-1/2" x 7-3/8"). Faint mark in upper margin, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

Interesting in grading the roads, locating archaeological sites, etc. Engraved by John Roper (fl.1792-1810) from a draught by Cole, probably the surveyor George Cole of Soho. Originally produced to accompany the part-work "Beauties of England and Wales" (London 1801-1818).
