[Washington : 1857]. An attractive and uncommon antique print - the tents of a survey party huddle in the snow below the pines at the foot the Peaks near modern Flagstaff in Arizona. Originally produced for a volume of the House of Representatives' "Reports of Explorations and Surveys, to Ascertain the Most Practicable and Economical Route for a Railroad from the Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean" (Washington : 1857), recording the work of the Williamson-Abbot Pacific Railroad Survey of 1855. Robert S. Young was the artist who accompanied the expedition.
Tint lithograph on paper by Napoloeon Sarony & Co. of New York, with additional later hand colour. Printed surface 171 x 235mm (approx. 6-3/4" x 1/4"). A couple of tiny marks to outer margins, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.
