CRAIG, William Marshall : WHITE HALL : KNIVES TO GRIND. London : Richard Phillips, 1804. A charming antique print - an itinerant knife-grinder plies his trade outside the Banqueting House on Whitehall. He would charge a penny for a pen-knife and perhaps two shillings a dozen for table-knives. Engraved from an original study by William Marshall Craig (fl.1788-1828), water-colour painter to Queen Charlotte.
