[BLAEU, Joan Willem, 1598-1673] : [MAP OF BEDFORDSHIRE] BEDFORDIENSIS COMITATVS ; ANGLIS BEDFORD SHIRE.

[Amsterdam : 1645 (or later)]. A fine armorial map of the county, with a draped cartouche by the Dutch master mapmaker, Joan Willem Blaeu. Originally published in the "Theatrum Orbis Terrarum" (Amsterdam, 1645) - "the Blaeus produced the finest maps of the 17th century. The general quality of design, execution, paper and colouring were unsurpassed" (Radford).
Copper line engraving on paper. Full contemporary hand colour. Engraved surface 416 x 241mm (approx. 16-3/8" x 9-1/2"). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique map.

[London : 1770]. A scarce antique map, originally produced for the part-work publication "England Displayed" (London 1769-1770). Features an attractive rococo cartouche.

[London : 1718]. A delightfully engraved scroll-style antique road map - the eighteenth-century road taking the traveller from St. Albans to Oakham in Rutland via Luton, Silsoe, Bedford, Chellington, Wellingborough, Kettering, Rockingham and Uppingham. The map is dedicated to Daniel, Lord Finch. Originally produced for the scarce early road-book "A Pocket Guide to the English Traveller"
Copper line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 168 x 271mm (approx. 6-5/8" x 10-3/4"). A touch wrinkled and tanned at extreme outer margins, but otherwise in very good state. A guaranteed genuine antique map.

Glasgow : Archibald Fullarton & Co., [1833 (or later)]. A neatly worked antique map of the county, with a vignette view of Bedford Bridge, etc. Originally produced by Gray & Son of Glasgow for Archibald Fullarton's "A New and Comprehensive Gazetteer of England and Wales" (Glasgow 1833).
Steel line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 244 x 185mm (approx. 9-5/8" x 7-1/4"). Minor mark in lower margin, but in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique map.

[MOULE, Thomas, 1784-1851] : BEDFORDSHIRE.

[London : George Virtue, 1832 (but later)]. A highly attractive map in "gothick" style, with an ornamental architectural border, inset views of Dunstable and Woburn, coats of arms, and a farmer in a smock with a plough. Originally produced in 1832 for Moule's "English Counties Delineated" series (London 1830-1837), with the present (somewhat revised) edition dating from about 1845.
Steel line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 266 x 205mm (approx. 10-1/2" x 8"). Cropped tight to engraved area, but otherwise in very good and clean condition. A guaranteed genuine antique map.

WALKER, J. & C. (WALKER, John, 1787-1873 & WALKER, Charles, fl.1821-1873) : BEDFORDSHIRE.

London : Longman, Rees, Orme, Brown & Co., [ca.1860]. A clearly engraved map of the county from the Admiralty engravers John & Charles Walker - particular attention being given to the newly built railways. Originally published in 1835, but here in a later and updated version.
Line engraving on paper, with original hand colour. Engraved surface 398 x 315mm (approx. 15-5/8" x 12-3/8"). Folding into a contemporary glazed paper case with printed label; very faintly tanned; case a little rubbed, but overall in very good and clean condition for a fragile item.
