LUKER, William, 1862-1934 : OLD SWAN PIER, [SWAN LANE] THAMES STREET.

[London : Leadenhall Press, 1891]. A very pleasant late Victorian print of Old Swan Pier (Swan Lane Pier) from up-river- a crowd of passengers boarding a paddle steamer - London Bridge beyond. From an original design by the painter and illustrator William Luker, engraved in Paris by Ch. Guillaume & Cie. for the Leadenhall Press publication "London City" (1891).
Hand touched and finished half-tone process block. Later hand colour. Image area 160 x 220mm (approx. 6-3/8" x 8-5/8"). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

SHEPHERD, Thomas Hosmer, 1793-1864 : FISHMONGER'S HALL, THAMES STREET.

[London : Jones & Co., 1830]. An antique print of the elegant portico of the old seventeenth-century Fishmongers' Hall, designed by Edward Jarman, demolished in 1827 to accommodate the new London Bridge. Engraved by John Greig (fl.1800-1843) from an original study by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd, the master recorder of 19th century London. From Shepherd's part-work series "London and its Environs in the Nineteenth Century" (London 1829-1832).
Steel line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 111 x 69mm (approx. 4-3/8" x 2-3/4"). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 161/076.

TOPHAM, Francis William, 1808-1877 & GARLAND, Robert : FISHMONGER'S HALL.

[London : W. S. Orr, 1837 (or later)]. An attractive antique print of the northern approach to London Bridge, with Fishmongers' Hall to the right, the bridge and Southwark Cathedral beyond. Engraved by John Woods (fl.1835-1855) from a composite study by Francis William Topham and Robert Garland (d.1863). Originally produced for Woods' "History of London: Illustrated by Views in London and Westminster", first published in parts 1837-1838 and subsequently reissued in various guises.
