[London : 1878 (or later)]. A pleasant antique print - a distant view of eighteenth century Camden Town from across the fields - a man and a girl pause by a stile. Originally produced for the part-work "Old and New London" (London 1873-1878).

PRIOR, William Henry, 1812-1882 : TURNPIKE IN THE HAMPSTEAD ROAD, AND ST. JAMES'S CHURCH, IN 1820.

[London : 1878 (or later)]. A pleasant antique print of the Euston end of the Hampstead Road, with the church built by Thomas Hardwick in 1791-1793 and demolished in 1964. St. James's Gardens behind the National Temperance Hospital commemorate the name. Engraved from an original sketch by William Henry Prior and originally produced for the part-work "Old and New London" (London : 1873-1878).

An antique print - the large, modern and newly-built warehouse and manufactory of Mann & Sargon, floor cloth manufacturers (near the present-day junction of Camden Road and York Way) contrasting oddly with a horse and cart at halt on the road. Engraved by Alexander McClatchie (fl.1828-1861) from an original study by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd, the master recorder of 19th century London. Originally produced for Shepherd's part-work series "Metropolitan Improvements; or London in the Nineteenth Century" (London 1827-1830).

[London : Jones & Co., 1828]. An antique print - a canal barge floats past the newly built gas works at Camden Town - "an immense pile of buildings ... in the road leading to Kentish Town". Originally produced for Shepherd's series "Metropolitan Improvements; or London in the Nineteenth Century" (London 1827-1830). Engraved by Alexander McClatchie (fl.1828-1861) from an original sepia wash drawing (now in the British Museum) by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd, the master recorder of 19th century London.

London : Jones & Co., 1828. A charming antique print - the elegant church of All Saints, Camden Town - with its bold semi-circular Ionic porch - built by William & Henry Inwood between 1822 and 1824. Originally known as Camden Chapel, later as All Saints, and nowadays as All Saints Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Engraved by Thomas Dale (fl.1818-1828) from an original study by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd, the master recorder of 19th century London. Originally produced for Shepherd's part-work series "Metropolitan Improvements; or London in the Nineteenth Century" (London 1827-1830).
