London : Simpkin & Marshall, [ca.1840]. A pleasant antique print – the great castle at Carisbrooke – a horse and cart in the foreground. Engraved by Thomas Barber (fl.1818-1840) from an original study by William Henry Bartlett. Originally produced for Barber’s “Picturesque Illustrations of the Isle of Wight” (London : 1834) – and here in a slightly later state.
Steel line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 109 x 147mm (approx. 4-1/4” x 5-3/4”). A few small and faint specks to blank margins, but otherwise in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.
