1863. A charming nineteenth-century pencil and watercolour sketch of the dolmen at Faldouet. Inscribed and captioned in pencil and initialled - possibly G. H. or G. S. H.
Pencil and watercolour on toned paper. Image area 115 x 183mm (approx. 4-1/2" x 7-1/8"). Laid down on card. Mild tanning of edges from an old mount, but the image very good and clean.

A most attractive mid-nineteenth century composite map - Guernsey above, Jersey below - the two maps set in a single floral border and decorated with vignette views of St. Peter Port, Castle Cornet, a druidical altar, Mont Orgueil, St. Helier, etc. The map was drawn and engraved by John Rapkin with the additional decorative work by Henry Winkles (1800-1860) and Edward Radclyffe (1810?-1863).
Steel line engraving on paper. Original outline hand colour, augmented with later wash. Engraved surface 351 x 250mm (approx. 13-7/8" x 10-1/8"). Faint crease to one corner, not affecting engraved surface; one slight nick, but in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique map.
