London : George Virtue, 1831. A charming antique print – eighteenth-century Boreham House near Chelmsford with its graceful ornamental canal – the home of Sir John Tyrrell. Engraved by John Rogers (1800?-1882) from an original study by William Henry Bartlett. Originally produced for “The History and Topography of Essex” published in parts from 1831 onwards.
Steel line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 115 x 164mm (approx. 4-1/2” x 6-1/2”). A few tiny specks, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

Vicesimus Knox (d.1855) was a son of the headmaster of Tonbridge, a barrister and Recorder of Saffron Walden. Engraved by Tombleson from an original study by William Henry Bartlett and originally produced for “The History and Topography of Essex” published in parts from 1831 onwards.

[London : 1880]. A handsome antique print – a view across the lawns to the great house – in turns episcopal palace, maternity hospital and university. A technically highly accomplished production, colour printed in eight or more overlays from separate wooden blocks by Benjamin Fawcett (1808-1893) from original draughts (drawn on the wood) by Frank Lydon. Originally produced for the Francis Orpen Morris part-work “County Seats of the Noblemen and Gentlemen of Great Britain and Ireland” (London : 1864-1880).
Multiple wood block engraving in colours (chromoxylograph). Engraved surface 131 x 192mm (approx. 5-1/8” x 7-1/2”). A few faint marks to outer blank margins, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.
