[London : Alexander Hogg, 1784]. A most attractive antique print - a view of eighteenth century Chiswick from the Thames. The image is surmounted by an elaborate engraved border of urns and ball ornaments. Engraved by John Peltro and originally produced for Hogg's partwork publication "The New, Complete, and Universal History, Description and Survey of the Cities of London and Westminster" ostensibly written by "A Society of Gentlemen" and revised by William Thornton.
Copper line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 177 x 220mm (approx. 7" x 8-3/4"). Cropped close and now separated from the view of Acton with which it was originally paired in the engraved border; small chip to top corner; but otherwise in very good and clean state.
