[London : 1724 (but later)]. A handsome antique print - a perspective view of the eighteenth century Christ's Hospital. Originally published by John Bowles in 1724, but here in a later impression on wove paper datable to the early years of the nineteenth century. Engraved below the image are seven lines of text on the history of the school, etc.

An attractive antique print of the delivery of the Annual Orations in the imposing Great Hall of the old Christ's Hospital School (the Blue Coat School) in Newgate Street, founded in 1553 and now removed to Horsham in Sussex. Engraved by Henry Melville (fl.1826-1844) from an original study by Llewellynn Jewitt F.S.A. and originally produced for the part-work "London Interiors : A Grand National Exhibition" (London : 1841-1844).
