[BLOME, Richard, 1635-1705] : COLEMAN STREET WARD AND BASHISHAW [BASSISHAW] WARD. TAKEN FROM THE LAST SURVEY, WITH CORRECTIONS AND ADDITIONS. [London : 1720]. A fine eighteenth century map of the adjacent wards of Coleman Street and Bassishaw in the centre of the City of London. The map runs northwards from Lothbury and Old Jewry to London Wall and what were then the Lower Walks of Moorfields - now Finsbury Circus. The modern Moorgate Street was not then built, but the route it takes parallel to Coleman Street is covered and the Gate itself is shown. Originally produced by Richard Blome in the late seventeenth century, the map remained unpublished until the present version appeared with the 1720 edition of John Stow's "Survey of London". SOLD |
