[Leiden : 1707]. A fine early eighteenth century print of the Custom House from the river - the quay bustling with activity. Originally produced for Pieter van der Aa's publication "Les Délices de la Grand'Bretagne" (Leiden 1707).
Etching and line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 124 x 151mm (approx. 4-7/8" x 6"). Old folds, paper slightly toned with age, but a good and sharp impression in very good state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 20/007.

Engraved by Robert Sands (1782-1855) from an original study by William Henry Bartlett. Originally produced for the much admired part-work series "Ports, Harbours, Watering Places and Coast Scenery of Great Britain" (London 1836-1842).

[London : 1724 (but later)]. A handsome antique print - a pleasantly engraved view of the early eighteenth century Custom House - the quay crowded with shipping. Originally published by John Bowles in 1724, but here in a later impression on wove paper datable to the early years of the nineteenth century. Engraved below the image are six lines of text on the history of the building, etc.

Engraved by John Woods (fl.1835-1855) from a composite study by Hablot Knight Browne ("Phiz") and Robert Garland (d.1863). Originally produced for Woods' "History of London: Illustrated by Views in London and Westminster", first published in parts 1837-1838 and subsequently reissued in various guises.

A charming small antique map - the south-east corner of the City of London - the Thames from London Bridge to St. Catherine's Stairs, with Leadenhall Street, Fenchurch Street, Billingsgate, the Custom House, the Tower of London, Trinity Square, the Mint, etc. A vignette view of the New Custom House completes the design. Drawn and engraved by John Greig (fl.1800-1843) and originally produced for the part-work publication "Walks through London, including Westminster and the Borough of Southwark" (London 1816-1817).

Owen (fl.1796-1838) from an original study by the London draughtsman, engraver, printer and printseller, T. Prattent (fl.1790-1819), who had premises in Cloth Fair. Originally produced for B. Lambert, "The History and Survey of London and its Environs from the Earliest Period" (London 1805-1806) - and here in a slightly later impression.

Engraved by Josiah Henshall (fl.1827-1863) from an original study (now in the Guildhall Library) by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd, the master recorder of nineteenth century London. From Shepherd's series "Metropolitan Improvements; or London in the Nineteenth Century" (London 1827-1830).
