London : Fisher, Son & Co., 1830. A most attractive antique print – visitors admire the ancient timbered houses – a glimpse of sails and ships beyond. Engraved by Frederick James Havell (1801-1840) from an original study by the gifted Thomas Allom. Originally produced for the part-work series “Devonshire Illustrated” (London : 1828-1832).
Steel line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 105 x 157mm (approx. 4-1/8” x 6-1/8”). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

The premises of Hutchings the sailmaker are shown with some prominence at the centre – George Henry Hutchings (1843-1908), shipbroker and sailmaker. Originally produced for the partwork publication “Our Own Country” (London : 1879-1883).

Engraved by James Baylis Allen (1803-1876) from an original study by the fine marine painter Clarkson Stanfield R.A., himself a former sailor. Originally produced for Stanfield’s “Coast Scenery” (London : 1836).
