A fine antique print - a general view of the city, with the cathedral, etc. Engraved by John le Keux (1783-1846) from an original study by the Durham-born George Fennell Robson and originally produced for John Britton's "Picturesque Views of the English Cities" (London : 1826-1828). The edition was strictly limited to 1,000 impressions and the original plates were destroyed in January 1829 after that number had been printed.

Originally produced for John Britton's "Picturesque Views of the English Cities" (London : 1826-1828). The edition was strictly limited to 1,000 impressions and the original plates were destroyed in January 1829 after that number had been printed.
Line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 166 x 250mm (approx. 6-5/8" x 9-7/8"). A few tiny marks to outer blank margins, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.
