ELLIS, William, 1756-1810 : EDGWARE.

London : J. Stratford, 1806. An antique print – a view of the old parish church of St. Margaret at Edgware, with its fourteenth-century tower. Engraved by William Poole (fl.1802-1806) from an original study by William Ellis. Originally produced for James Stratford’s part-work series “London; being an Accurate History and Description of the British Metropolis and its Neighbourhood ... by David Hughson” (London : 1805-1810). “Hughson” was in fact the pseudonym of David Pugh.
Copper line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 108 x 166mm (approx. 4-1/4” x 6-1/2”). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

[London : J. Seago, ca.1800]. An uncommon antique print – a slightly crudely executed exterior view of the old parish church of St. Margaret at Edgware, with its fourteenth-century tower. Originally published by the London printseller John Seago (fl.1777-1809) in 1789, but here in a slightly impression on wove paper watermarked 1797.
Etching and line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 160 x 194mm (approx. 6-1/4” x 7-5/8”). Faint creasing to upper blank margin, but otherwise in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.
