BILLINGS, Robert William, 1815-1874 : AIRTH.

[Edinburgh : William Paterson, ca.1870]. A finely worked antique print – a dramatic view of Airth Castle near Falkirk. Engraved by George Belles Smith (1820-1875) from an original study by the architect and illustrator R. W. Billings. Originally produced for the part-work “Baronial and Ecclesiastical Antiquities of Scotland”, first published between 1845 and 1852 and here in a slightly later edition.
Steel line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 184 x 228mm (approx. 7-1/4” x 9”). A few minor marks and specks, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

[LYDON, Frank (Alexander Francis), 1836-1917] : DUNMORE PARK.

[London : W. Mackenzie, 1880]. A pleasing antique print – Dunmore Park House near Falkirk – a view from the park. A technically highly accomplished production, colour printed in eight or more overlays from separate wooden blocks by Benjamin Fawcett (1808-1893) from original draughts (drawn on the wood) by Frank Lydon. Originally produced for the Francis Orpen Morris part-work “County Seats of the Noblemen and Gentlemen of Great Britain and Ireland” (1864-1880).
Multiple wood block engraving in colours (chromoxylograph). Engraved surface 137 x 188mm (approx. 5-3/8” x 7-3/8”). A few tiny specks, but verall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

Engraved by Henry Wallis (1805-1890) from an original study by John Preston Neale. Originally produced for the partwork series “Views of the Seats, Mansions, Castles, etc. of Noblemen and Gentlemen” (London : 1829-1831).

Originally produced for John Parker Lawson’s “Scotland Delineated in a Series of Views” (London : 1847-1854), but here with the slightly later imprint of J. G. Murdoch and produced for his undated publication “Scotland, Picturesque, Historical, Descriptive”.
Tint lithograph on paper, with supplementary later hand colour. Printed surface 159 x 185mm (approx. 6-1/4” x 7-1/4”). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.
