BARTHOLOMEW & CO., John : [COVER TITLE] PATTISONS' CYCLISTS' ROAD MAP OF HEREFORD, WORCESTER, GLOUCESTER, OXFORD, ETC. Leith : Pattisons, [ca.1897]. A charming map of the Cotswolds and beyond (centred more or less on Gloucester and extending - on a scale of ten miles to the inch - to Stourport in the north, east to Brackley, south to Bath, and west to Cardiff), with the roads suitable for cycling marked in red. Issued as one of a promotional series by the Leith distillery, producers of Pattisons Royal Gordon Scotch Whisky, etc. - with images of their premises and products surrounding the map. The reverse has a series of further images demonstrating the use and benefit of Pattisons while cycling, golfing, curling, hunting, coaching, yachting, shooting and fishing. MORDEN, Robert, fl.1668-1703 : [GLOUCESTERSHIRE] GLOUCESTER SHIRE BY ROB:T MORDEN. [London] : sold by Abel Swale, Awnsham & Iohn Churchill, [1695]. A rare separately published state of the first issue of Morden's map of the county, originally produced for the 1695 edition of "Camden's Britannia", but here dissected, mounted on linen, and folding into (eighteenth century) marbled guards, with a manuscript label. Morden's maps from this series have not previously been recorded in this form. On their first appearance they were advertised as being "much the fairest and most correct of any that have yet appear'd" and the help of "knowing gentlemen" in each part of the country had been sought "to supply the defects, rectifie the positions, and correct false spellings".
