Engraved by Thomas Abiel Prior (1809-1866) from an original study by the gifted artist-architect Thomas Allom. Originally produced for the part-work “History of Surrey” (London : 1840-1848) – and here in the later reissue published between 1878 and 1881.

[London : 1880]. A handsome antique print – a view across the lawns to the great house. A technically highly accomplished production, colour printed in eight or more overlays from separate wooden blocks by Benjamin Fawcett (1808-1893) from original draughts (drawn on the wood) by Frank Lydon. Originally produced for the Francis Orpen Morris part-work “County Seats of the Noblemen and Gentlemen of Great Britain and Ireland” (1864-1880).
Multiple wood block engraving in colours (chromoxylograph). Engraved surface 131 x 186mm (approx. 5-1/8” x 7-1/4”). A few faint marks, but still in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.
