KITCHIN, Thomas, 1719-1784 : [HAMPSHIRE] A NEW MAP OF HAMP SHIRE, DRAWN FROM THE BEST AUTHORITIES. [London : 1763]. A handsome antique map of the county, with a delightful rococo title-piece, produced by Thomas Kitchin, one of the best known of English mapmakers of the period and later to become Hydrographer to the King. "Executed with a good share of elegance and neatness", as a contemporary reviewer noted, and originally produced for "England Illustrated, or, a Compendium of the Natural History, Geography, Topography, and Antiquities Ecclesiastical and Civil, of England and Wales" (London 1764). A striking antique map offering a pleasant image of seventeenth-century Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight - from the French mathematician, engineer and surveyor Allain Manesson-Mallet. [MOULE, Thomas, 1784-1851] : HAMPSHIRE. [London : George Virtue, ca.1840]. A highly attractive map of the county engraved by John Crane Dower (fl.1820-1847) for the part-work "English Counties Delineated" (London : 1830-1837) prepared by the antiquary Thomas Moule. Decorated with a patterned border, the coats of arms of the major towns and of the Duke of Wellington, and a vignette view of Southampton. Originally engraved in 1834, the present (slightly revised) edition is dated to about 1840. SOLD |

A pleasant antique map of the country some ten miles round Portsmouth, taking in Gosport, Hambledon, Havant, Hayling Island, Fareham, Ryde, etc. Originally engraved in 1835 by John Crane Dower (fl.1820-1847) for the part-work "English Counties Delineated" (London 1830-1837) prepared by the antiquary Thomas Moule. The present impression, showing the addition of the recently built railways, is dated to about 1848. SOLD |

[SELLER, John, 1632-1697] : [HAMPSHIRE] HANT SHIRE. [London : 1694?]. A charming and rare small map of Hampshire by John Seller. Originally produced for a set of maps which first appeared under the title "Anglia Contracta", dated to between 1689 and 1694 by Skelton and generally ascribed to somewhere near the latter date. The maps in their original form were subsequently reissued a number of times between 1696 and 1711, with the present example dating from no later than 1697. SOLD |
