London : Richard Phillips, 1804. An attractive and unusual antique print – a street-vendor cries his water-cress at a penny a bunch in Hanover Square. The large house behind him is the town-house of Lord Harewood. Engraved from an original study by William Marshall Craig, water-colour painter to Queen Charlotte. Originally produced for Phillips’ part-work “Modern London : Being the History and Present State of the British Metropolis” (1804).
Etching, line and stipple engraving on paper. Original hand colour. Engraved surface (including quadruple-rule outer border) 137 x 102mm (approx. 5-1/4” x 4”). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 89/054.

London : W. Clarke, 1817. A charming small antique print of the church in the early nineteenth century – Hanover Square beyond. Engraved by Thomas Higham (1796-1844) from an original sketch by William Kendall Morland. Originally produced for the part-work publication “Walks through London, including Westminster and the Borough of Southwark” (1816-1817).
Copper line engraving on india paper. Engraved surface 105 x 67mm (4-1/8” x 2-5/8”). A few faint specks, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 121/069.

[London : Henry Overton, ca.1740]. A scarce and attractive antique print – Hanover Square from the south – the heights and hills of north London away to the north. Originally published as part of Overton’s undated series of "Prospects of the most remarkable places in and about the Citty of London".
Copper line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 162 x 241mm (approx. 6-3/8” x 9-1/2”). Trimmed a little tight at sides; very faint vertical fold; a few very minor marks, but overall in very good state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 26/033.

Engraved by William Deeble (1791-1861) from an original study by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd, the master recorder of nineteenth-century London. From Shepherd’s part-work series “London and its Environs in the Nineteenth Century” (London : 1829-1832).
