HASSELL, John, 1767-1825 : HENDON.

London : J. Stratford, 1807. An interesting antique print – a view of early nineteenth-century Hendon, looking towards the old parish church of St. Mary. Engraved by Samuel Turner Sparrow (fl.1784-1810) from an original study by the watercolour artist John Hassell. Originally produced for the part-work by “Dr David Hughson” [David Pugh] known as "London : Being an Accurate History and Description of the British Metropolis" (London : 1805-1809).
Copper line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 104 x 161mm (approx. 4-1/8” x 6-3/8”). A few tiny specks and small faint marks to blank margins, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

London : John Harris, 1815. An antique print of the old parish church of St. Mary Hendon, with cows in an adjacent field. Engraved by Thomas Bonnor (fl.1763-1815) from an original study by John Preston Neale, and originally produced for the part-work “Beauties of England and Wales” (1801-1816).
Copper line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 110 x 156mm (approx. 4-3/8” x 6-1/8”). Very slight nick and faint mark in lower margin, but in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 104/145.
