[London : T. J. Allman, 1860]. An attractive antique print – a view of Hythe from the hills above. Engraved by James C. Allen (fl.1821-1833) from an original study by David Cox. Originally produced to accompany “The Watering Places of Great Britain” (1833), with the present impression dated to 1860.
Steel line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 121 x 202mm (approx. 4-3/4” x 8”). A few slight marks caused by damage to plate before printing, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

ORDNANCE SURVEY : HYTHE.

Southampton : Ordnance Survey Office, [1868]. A map of the Hythe area of the Kent coast at a scale of one inch to the mile, extending east to take in Sandgate and Folkestone, west to include Lympne and West Hythe, and inland as far as Stouting and Lyminge. Produced by the Ordnance Survey in connection with the parliamentary boundary alterations of 1868, the map is coloured to show the existing 1832 boundary, the proposed new boundary, the municipal boundaries and the parish and township boundaries.
Zincograph on paper, with original hand colour. Printed surface 337 x 225mm (approx. 13-1/4” x 8-7/8”). A few tiny specks, some faint creasing to margins, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique map.
