BARTHOLOMEW, John, 1831-1893 : MANCHESTER SALFORD & ENVIRONS FROM ORDNANCE & ACTUAL SURVEYS. London & Edinburgh : A. Fullarton & Co., [ca.1870]. A neatly worked nineteenth-century town-plan of Manchester - extending north to Cheetham, east to Beswick, south to Moss Side, and west to Stretford - on a scale of over two-and-a-half inches to the mile, drawn and engraved by John Bartholomew for an unidentified edition of one of the Fullarton gazetteers. COLE, G. & ROPER, John : LIVERPOOL. London : Vernor, Hood & Sharpe, 1807. A neatly worked and detailed town plan of Liverpool as it stood at the beginning of the nineteeth century. Engraved by John Roper (fl.1792-1810) from a draught by G. Cole - probably the surveyor George Cole of Soho. The map is decorated with the town's coat of arms and a vignette view of St. Paul's Church - the latter separately engraved by John Smith from an original study by George Sidney Shepherd (1784-1862). [MOULE, Thomas, 1784-1851] : LANCASHIRE. [London : George Virtue, 1833 (but later) ]. A fine antique map of the county originally engraved in flamboyant gothic style for the part-work "English Counties Delineated" (London 1830-1837) prepared by the antiquary Thomas Moule (1784-1851). Decorated with coats of arms, a vineleaf patterned border, a vignette of Nelson's Monument in Liverpool, etc. Originally engraved in 1833, the present version, showing some development of the railway system, is dated to about 1842. THORNTON, John : MANCHESTER & SALFORD. London : Vernor, Hood & Sharpe, 1807. A neatly worked and detailed town plan of Manchester as it stood at the beginning of the nineteeth century. Engraved by John Roper (fl.1792-1810) from a survey by Thornton - presumably the large-scale William Green survey engraved by John Thornton in 1794. The map is decorated with the town's coat of arms and a small inset view of the College Cloisters - the latter separately engraved by Edwards from an original study by George Ormerod (1785-1873).
