COLE, Benjamin : [ST. LAWRENCE JEWRY] THE SOUTH EAST PROSPECT OF THE PARISH CHURCH OF ST. LAURENCE JEWRY.

[London : 1772]. A fine eighteenth century print of St. Lawrence Jewry, engraved by Benjamin Cole (fl.1723-1767) and originally produced for the part-work edition of William Maitland's "History of London" (London: 1753-1756). Although the present impression is dated to 1772, this would appear to be the earliest image of the church.
Copper line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 237 x 183mm (approx. 9-1/4" x 7-1/4"). Cropped to neatlines, one very small spot in sky, but a very good sharp impression in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 38/066B.

London : W. Clarke, 1817. A charming small antique print of the Wren church from the south-east. Drawn and engraved by John Greig (fl.1800-1843) and originally produced for the part-work publication "Walks through London, including Westminster and the Borough of Southwark" (London : 1816-1817).

From an original design by the painter and illustrator William Luker and engraved in Paris by Ch. Guillaume & Cie. for the Leadenhall Press publication "London City" (1891).
Hand touched and finished half-tone process block. Later hand colour. Image area 158 x 108mm (approx. 6-1/4" x 4-1/4"). Text on verso, but in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

Originally produced for George Godwin's serially published "The Churches of London" (London : 1837-1839).

London : J. Booth, 1811. A handsome antique print - a spacious view of the Wren church built between 1670 and 1687. Engraved by John Taylor Wedgwood (1783-1856) from an original study by Robert Blemmel Schnebbelie (fl.1803-1849). Originally produced for the part-work series "Architectura Ecclesiastica Londini; being a Series of Views" (London : 1810-1823) - "the first artistically competent and exhaustive illustration of the golden age of London church building" (Adams). Below the image are several lines of explanatory text.
Etching and line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 199 x 203mm (approx. 7-7/8" x 8"). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 129/063.

Engraved by James Tingle (1801-1858) from an original study by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd, the master recorder of nineteenth-century London. From Shepherd's series "London and its Environs in the Nineteenth Century" (London : 1829-1832).
Steel line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 116 x 149mm (approx. 4-1/2" x 5-7/8"). A few faint marks to blank margins, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 161/058.
