London : J. Booth, 1814. A handsome antique print – the exterior of the old church of St. Alfege London Wall – here attributed to Sir Christopher Wren, but shown as rebuilt in 1777, with its Venetian window and two pedimented doors. The church was demolished in 1923. Engraved by Joseph Skelton (1783-1871) from an original drawing (now in the British Museum) by John Coney. Originally produced for the part-work series “Architectura Ecclesiastica Londini; being a Series of Views” (London : 1810-1823) – “the first artistically competent and exhaustive illustration of the golden age of London church building” (Adams). Below the image are several lines of explanatory text.

[London : H. Setchel & Son, 1810]. A well-worked antique print of the George Dance church and London Wall in the early nineteenth century. Engraved by William Wise (fl.1790-1818) from an original drawing (dated 1810 and now in the British Museum) by William Pearson (fl.1798-1813). Originally produced for the part-work series “Architectura Ecclesiastica Londini; being a Series of Views” (London : 1810-1823) – “the first artistically competent and exhaustive illustration of the golden age of London church building” (Adams). Below the image are several lines of explanatory text.
Copper line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 242 x 165mm (approx. 9-3/4” x 6-1/2”). A few faint marks, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 129/009.

London : N. Smith, 1792. An unusual antique print of the best-preserved part of London Wall as it stood in the late eighteenth century. Below the print are several lines of explanatory text. Engraved by John Thomas “Antiquity” Smith, draughtsman, etcher, author, scholar and later Keeper of Prints at the British Museum, and published by his father, Nathaniel Smith the “antient printseller”, as part of their “Antiquities of London and Environs” series (1791-1800).
Etching and engraving on paper. Engraved surface 218 x 172mm (approx. 8-5/8” x 6-3/4”). Some marks and scratches to plate; very faint crease to lower corner, but overall in good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 70/003.
