[London] : 1754. A fine eighteenth century map of the adjacent wards of Coleman Street and Bassishaw in the centre of the City of London. The map runs northwards from Lothbury and Old Jewry to London Wall and what were then the Lower Walks of Moorfields - now Finsbury Circus. The modern Moorgate Street was not then built, but the route it takes parallel to Coleman Street is covered and the Gate itself is shown. The map is decorated with the arms of the then aldermen, Robert Alsop and William Baker, a rococo cartouche, and views of the churches of St. Michael Bassishaw and St. Stephen Coleman Street. Originally engraved by Benjamin Cole (fl.1723-1767) for the part-work edition of William Maitland's "History of London" (London: 1753-1756).

[London : J. Booth, 1810]. A well-worked antique print of the George Dance church - and London Wall in the early nineteenth century. Engraved by William Wise (fl.1790-1818) from an original drawing (dated 1810 and now in the British Museum) by William Pearson (fl.1798-1813). Originally produced for the part-work series "Architectura Ecclesiastica Londini; being a Series of Views" (London 1810-1823) - "the first artistically competent and exhaustive illustration of the golden age of London church building" (Adams).

London : Jones & Co., 1828. A pleasing antique print of the old Albion Chapel at the north-east corner of Moorgate and London Wall. Engraved by Thomas Barber (fl.1818-1846) from an original drawing (now in the Guildhall Library) by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd, the master recorder of 19th century London. Originally produced for Shepherd's series "Metropolitan Improvements; or London in the Nineteenth Century" (London 1827-1830).

A charming antique print - a lively street scene looking eastwards along London Wall towards Bishopsgate with the church, rebuilt by George Dance the younger in 1765-1777, to the left. Engraved by Archileus Cruse (fl.1829-1834) from an original pencil sketch (now in the Guildhall Library) by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd. London : N. Smith, 1792. An unusual antique print of the best-preserved part of London Wall as it stood in the late eighteenth century. Below the print are several lines of explanatory text. Engraved by John Thomas "Antiquity" Smith, draughtsman, etcher, author, scholar and later Keeper of Prints at the British Museum, and published by his father, Nathaniel Smith the "antient printseller", as part of their "Antiquities of London and Environs" series (1791-1800).
Etching and engraving on paper. Engraved surface 218 x 172mm (approx. 8-5/8" x 6-3/4"). A few faint marks; very faint crease to lower corner, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 70/003.
