[London : George Virtue, 1841]. An interesting antique print – two sailing ships run aground near Margate – spars and wreckage in the foreground. Engraved by Joseph Clayton Bentley (1809-1851) from an original study by the well-known William Henry Bartlett. Originally produced for the part-work series “Ports, Harbours, Watering Places and Coast Scenery of Great Britain” (London : 1836-1842).

[London : Virtue & Co., ca.1880]. An antique print – a rescue attempt is made off the stormy Kent coast. Engraved by Robert Brandard (1805-1862) from an original study by the well-known William Henry Bartlett. Originally produced for the much admired part-work series “Ports, Harbours, Watering Places and Coast Scenery of Great Britain” (London : 1836-1842) and here in a later nineteenth-century impression.
Steel line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 140 x 181mm (approx. 5-1/2” x 7-1/8”). A few faint marks to blank margins, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.
