[London : George Virtue, 1840]. A handsome antique print - a small sailing vessel struggles past the pier and through the breakwaters to the safety of the harbour - spectators look on. Engraved by John Cousen (1804-1880) from an original study by William Henry Bartlett. Originally produced for the much admired part-work series "Ports, Harbours, Watering Places and Coast Scenery of Great Britain" (London 1836-1842).
Steel line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 137 x 185mm (approx. 5-3/8" x 7-1/4"). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

Originally produced for the serially published "The Border Antiquities of England and Scotland" (London 1812-1814).
