Engraved by Benjamin Winkles (fl.1829-1842) from an original study by Hablot Knight Browne - better known as "Phiz", the illustrator of Dickens. Originally produced for the part-work publication "Winkles's Architectural and Picturesque Illustrations of the Cathedral Churches of England and Wales" (London 1835-1842).

London : J. Britton, 1827. A fine antique print offering a general view of the city, with the castle and the cathedral dominating the skyline. Engraved by Thomas Jeavons (1794-1867) from an original drawing by George Fennell Robson and originally produced for John Britton's "Picturesque Views of the English Cities" (London : 1826-1828). The edition was strictly limited to 1,000 impressions and the original plates were destroyed in January 1829 after that number had been printed.
