[YOUNG, Robert S.] : MOUNT HOOD FROM TYSCH PRAIRIE.

[Washington : 1857]. An attractive and uncommon antique print - an exploration party travels the Tygh or Tysch Valley below Mount Hood in Oregon. Originally produced for a volume of the House of Representatives' "Reports of Explorations and Surveys, to Ascertain the Most Practicable and Economical Route for a Railroad from the Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean" (Washington : 1857), recording the work of the Williamson-Abbot Pacific Railroad Survey of 1855. Robert S. Young was the artist who accompanied the expedition.
Tint lithograph on paper, with additional later hand colour. Printed surface 170 x 236mm (approx. 6-3/4" x 9-1/4"). A couple of tiny spots, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

Originally produced for a volume of the House of Representatives' "Reports of Explorations and Surveys, to Ascertain the Most Practicable and Economical Route for a Railroad from the Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean" (Washington : 1857), recording the work of the Williamson-Abbot Pacific Railroad Survey of 1855.
