[BLOME, Richard, 1635-1705] : PORTSOKEN WARD BEING PART OF THE PARISH OF ST. BUTTOLPHS ALDGATE, TAKEN FROM THE LAST SURVEY, WITH CORRECTIONS AND ADDITIONS. [London : for W. Innys and J. Richardson, J. &. P. Knapton and others], 1754. A fine antique map of Portsoken Ward at the eastern edge of the City of London, taking in The Minories, Petticoat Lane, Houndsditch, Whitechapel (Aldgate High Street) and St. Botolph Aldgate. The map is decorated with a wreathed cartouche and a numbered index gives the names of over eighty of the smaller courts and alleys. Originally produced by Richard Blome in the late seventeenth century, the map remained unpublished until 1720, with the present version originally produced for the part-work edition of John Stow's "A Survey of the Cities of London and Westminster" (London : 1754-1757). £100 To confirm availability and to purchase this map please note the stock number 36642 and go to the database. [BOWEN, Thomas, 1733?-1790] : PORTSOKEN WARD WITH ITS DIVISIONS INTO PARISHES. FROM A LATE SURVEY. [London : R. Baldwin], 1772. A pleasant antique map of Portsoken Ward - the eastern fringe of the City of London, taking in The Minories, Petticoat Lane, Houndsditch and Whitechapel (Aldgate High Street). The map is decorated with a prospect of St. Botolph Aldgate and a delicate rococo title-piece. Originally produced for the "London Magazine" in 1771, the present (slightly revised) version of the map was utilised in John Noorthouck's part-work "A New History of London including Westminster and Southwark" (London : 1772-1773). COLE, Benjamin, 1697?-1783 : PORTSOKEN WARD WITH ITS DIVISIONS INTO PARISHES ACCORDING TO A NEW SURVEY. [London] : 1755. A fine antique map of Portsoken Ward at the eastern edge of the City of London, taking in The Minories, Petticoat Lane, Houndsditch, Whitechapel (Aldgate High Street) and St. Botolph Aldgate. The map is decorated with a handsome rococo title-piece, the arms of the then alderman (Sir William Calvert) and a compass rose.
