[London : Building News, 1876]. A handsome antique print - the brand new Victorian building on the south side of the Poultry designed by the Chelmsford ecclesiastical architect and archaeologist, Frederick Chancellor (1825-1918). The shop on the ground floor is that of the hosier and glover, J. Sadler, successor to the long established "Peart & Dossetor", whose names are still prominently displayed. Photo-lithographed and printed by James Akerman of Grays Inn Road and originally produced for "The Building News" of February 4th 1876.
Photo-lithograph on paper. Image area 280 x 101mm (approx. 11" x 4"). A couple of faint spots, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

Shrewsbury : C. Hulbert, [ca.1810]. An uncommon antique print of the imposing facade. Probably produced earlier elsewhere, but here in a later impression with the imprint of Charles Hulbert of Shrewbury.
Copper line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 117 x 150mm (approx. 4-5/8" x 5-7/8"). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

[PAYNE, Albert Henry, 1812-1902] : THE NATIONAL MERCANTILE ASSURANCE LIFE OFFICE, CORNER OF THE POULTRY.

[London : John Tallis & Co., 1852]. A pleasant antique print - the south-east corner of the Poultry, with the imposing new offices of the insurance company, the corner of the Mansion House to the left, Novello's Music Warehouse to the right, and the Knightsbridge omnibus in the foreground. An engraving from the workshop of A. H. Payne, originally produced for Payne's "Illustrated London, or a Series of Views in the British Metropolis and its Vicinity" (London : 1846-1847), and here in a slightly later impression.
Steel line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 98 x 137mm (approx. 3-7/8" x 5-3/8"). Minor mark in upper blank margin, two small stab marks in lower margin, but otherwise in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 207/077.

London : J. Booth, 1812. A handsome antique print - a busy scene of the Poultry in the early nineteenth century, with the old Wren church of St. Mildred - long since demolished. Engraved by Joseph Skelton (1781?-1850) from an original drawing by George Sidney Shepherd. Originally produced for the part-work series "Architectura Ecclesiastica Londini; being a Series of Views" (London : 1810-1823) - "the first artistically competent and exhaustive illustration of the golden age of London church building" (Adams). Below the image are several lines of explanatory text.

[London : Jones & Co., 1831]. An attractive antique print - the early nineteenth-century hall from the courtyard, man with dog and stick on the lawn. Engraved by William Radclyffe (1783-1855) from an original study (now in the Museum of London) by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd, the master recorder of nineteenth-century London. From Shepherd's series "London and its Environs in the Nineteenth Century" (London : 1829-1832).
