AKERMAN, James : NO. 12 & 13 POULTRY : FRED. CHANCELLOR ARCHT. [London : Building News, 1876]. A handsome antique print - the brand new Victorian building on the south side of the Poultry designed by the Chelmsford ecclesiastical architect and archaeologist, Frederick Chancellor (1825-1918). The shop on the ground floor is that of the hosier and glover, J. Sadler, successor to the long established "Peart & Dossetor", whose names are still prominently displayed. Originally produced for the part-work series "Architectura Ecclesiastica Londini; being a Series of Views" (London : 1810-1823) - "the first artistically competent and exhaustive illustration of the golden age of London church building" (Adams).
