Edinburgh : Gall & Inglis, [ca. 1850]. An unusual and uncommon small antique print – a vignette view of the Register Office (now General Register House) on Princes Street. Engraved by the Edinburgh engraver and printer, John Bower, born at Melrose in 1820.

KEMP, George Meikle, 1795-1844 : THE ROYAL INSTITUTION, EDINBURGH.
[London : George Virtue, 1837]. An attractive antique print – William Henry Playfair’s classical building, which has now become the Royal Scottish Academy. Engraved by William Deeble (1791-1861) from an original study by George Meikle Kemp, the architect of the Scott Monument. Originally produced for the part-work series “Scotland Illustrated” (London : 1835-1838).

A charming antique print of the Robert Adam building at the east end of Princes Street – engraved by Alexander McClatchie (fl.1828-1861) from an original study by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd. Originally produced for the part-work “Modern Athens! Displayed in a Series of Views: or, Edinburgh in the Nineteenth Century” (London : 1829-1831).
