[London : George Virtue, 1828]. A most attractive antique print – the quay alive with boats and bustle, the Royal Oak Tavern and the Castle Hotel visible amongst the masts and rigging of the ships. Engraved by Josiah Henshall (1801?-1869) from a drawing by the landscape painter Joseph Fussell (fl.1821-1845), in turned based on Henshall’s own preliminary sketch. Originally produced for the “England’s Topographer” series of Kent views (London : 1828-1831).
Steel line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 104 x 151mm (approx. 4-1/8” x 6”). Small mark at right-hand margin, but otherwise in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.
