CREIGHTON, R. : RUTLANDSHIRE.

[London : Samuel Lewis, 1831 (or later)]. A neat and clear antique map of Rutland, compiled by R. Creighton and engraved by the admiralty engravers John and Charles Walker. Originally produced for the "Topographical Dictionary" published by Samuel Lewis of Aldersgate in 1831.
Steel line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. 230 x 175mm (approx. 9" x 6-7/8"). Faint crease toward upper margin, but otherwise in very good and clean state. A guaranteed antique map.

[London : 1718]. A delightfully engraved scroll-style antique road map - the eighteenth-century road taking the traveller from St. Albans to Oakham in Rutland via Luton, Silsoe, Bedford, Chellington, Wellingborough, Kettering, Rockingham and Uppingham. The map is dedicated to Daniel, Lord Finch. Originally produced for the scarce early road-book "A Pocket Guide to the English Traveller"
Copper line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 168 x 271mm (approx. 6-5/8" x 10-3/4"). A touch wrinkled and tanned at extreme outer margins, but otherwise in very good state. A guaranteed genuine antique map.

[MOULE, Thomas, 1784-1851] : RUTLANDSHIRE.

[London : 1831 (but later)]. A fine antique map of the county originally engraved by James Bingley (fl.1822-1839) for the part-work "English Counties Delineated" (London 1830-1837) prepared by the antiquary Thomas Moule. Decorated with five coats of arms, an ornate pillared and strapwork border, and inset views of Burleigh House, Normanton Park and Empingham. Originally engraved in 1831, the present version, showing slight revision, is dated to about 1845.
Steel line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 250 x 190mm (approx. 10" x 7-1/2" ). Slight nick to lower border, a few faint marks, but otherwise in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique map.

WALKER, J. & C. (WALKER, John, 1787-1873 & WALKER, Charles, fl.1821-1873) : RUTLANDSHIRE.

London : Longman, Rees, Orme, Brown & Co., 1845. A clearly engraved map of the county from the Admiralty engravers John & Charles Walker - on a scale of approximately 11/16 of an inch to the mile. Originally published in 1835, but here in a later and updated version dated 1845 in the plate.
Line engraving on paper, with original hand colour. Engraved surface 335 x 377mm (approx. 13-1/4" x 14-7/8"). Folding into a contemporary glazed paper case with printed label; in very good and clean condition. A guaranteed genuine antique map.
