BARTLETT, William Henry, 1809-1854 : SANDWICH. (KENT.)

[London : Virtue & Co., ca.1880]. A handsome antique print – the bridge at Sandwich. Engraved by Ebenezer Challis (1806-1881) from an original study by the much-admired William Henry Bartlett. Originally produced for the part-work series “Ports, Harbours, Watering Places and Coast Scenery of Great Britain” (London : 1836-1842) and here in a later nineteenth-century impression.
Steel line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 140 x 178mm (approx. 5-1/2” x 7”). A few tiny specks to blank margins, but otherwise in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

London : George Virtue, 1829. An attractive antique print – the handsome parish church of St. Clement at Sandwich, with its fine Norman tower. Engraved by John Rogers (1800?-1882) from an original study by the landscape and topographical painter Henry Gastineau. Originally produced for the “England’s Topographer” series of Kent views (London : 1828-1831).
Steel line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 104 x 149mm (approx. 4-1/8” x 5-7/8”). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.
