[GARDNER, Thomas] : THE ROAD FROM BRISTOL COM SOM.ST TO EXETER COM DEVON BY THO.S GARDNER. [London : 1718]. A delightfully engraved scroll-style road map from the scarce early set of road maps published as "A Pocket Guide to the English Traveller". The road from Bristol via Wells, Glastonbury, Greinton, Middlezoy, Lyng, Durston, Taunton, Wellington, Cullompton and Bradninch to Exeter. The map is dedicated to the Hon. Francis Drew. SOLD |

[MOULE, Thomas, 1784-1851] : SOMERSETSHIRE. [London : George Virtue, 1836 (but later) ]. A fine antique map of the county originally engraved by John Crane Dower (fl.1820-1847) for the part-work "English Counties Delineated" (London : 1830-1837) prepared by the antiquary Thomas Moule. Decorated with coats of arms, a patterned border, and a vignette view of Glastonbury Cross. Originally engraved in 1836, the present version, showing the development of the railway system, is dated to about 1848. SOLD |
