[London : Leadenhall Press, 1891]. A handsome view of the bridge from the south-east, with boats loading in the foreground and the dome of St. Paul’s dominating the skyline. From an original design by the painter and illustrator William Luker and engraved in Paris by Ch. Guillaume & Cie. for the Leadenhall Press publication “London City” (1891).

NEALE, John Preston, 1780-1847 : [SOUTHWARK BRIDGE] NEW IRON BRIDGE, OVER THE THAMES FROM QUEEN STREET.
London : John Harris, 1815. A charming antique print – a view of the original Southwark Bridge, built by John Rennie between 1814 and 1819, as seen from the east, with craft on the water, etc. – engraved by H. Hobson (fl.1814-1831) from an original study by the landscape artist John Preston Neale. Originally produced for the part-work “Beauties of England and Wales” (1801-1816).

PROUT, Samuel, 1783-1852 : THE SOUTHWARK IRON BRIDGE.
London : Longman & Co., J. & A. Arch & G. Cooke, 1828. A lovely antique print – Southwark Bridge seen from the south, with the old Wren churches of St. Michael Queenhithe and St. Michael Paternoster Royal prominent on the skyline. Men at work in the foreground where the initials of the artists and the engraver are cleverly carved in blocks of stone. Etched and engraved by George Cooke (1781-1834) from an original drawing by Samuel Prout, also worked on by Edward William Cooke (1811-1880), whose initials also appear. Originally produced for George Cooke’s part-work series “Views in London and its Vicinity” (1826-1834).

SHEPHERD, Thomas Hosmer, 1793-1864 : SOUTHWARK BRIDGE, FROM BANK SIDE.
London : Jones & Co., 1827. A very pleasant antique print – a view of the bridge from the south-east, with lighters and barrels on the shore and the dome of St. Paul’s beyond. Engraved by William Wallis (fl.1816-1855) from an original study by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd, the master recorder of nineteenth-century London. From Shepherd’s part-work series “Metropolitan Improvements; or London in the Nineteenth Century” (London : 1827-1830).

A most attractive antique print showing the bridge from the south-west – the City skyline and the Monument beyond, a pleasure-steamer on the river and a rowing boat in the foreground. An intricately engraved decorative border surrounds the image. Engraved by J. How (fl.1832-1834) from an original study by William Tombleson (fl.1824-1841) and originally published with the part-work series “Tombleson’s Views of the Thames and Medway” (London : 1833-1834).
