Lemon from an original study by the painter and architect Robert William Billings. Originally produced for George Godwin's serially published "The Churches of London" (London : 1837-1839).

Engraved by John le Keux (1783-1846) from an original study by the painter and architect Robert William Billings. [BOWEN, Thomas, 1733?-1790] : [CITY OF LONDON] CRIPPLEGATE WARD, DIVIDED INTO ITS PARISHES, FROM A LATE SURVEY.

[London : R. Baldwin], 1772. An attractive antique map of Cripplegate Ward at the north-west corner of the City of London, running north from Cheapside by way of Wood Street, Milk Street and Aldermanbury to London Wall, St Giles Church and Fore Street, Red Cross Street, White Cross Street, Grub Street (Milton Street), Golden Lane and the Barbican. The map is decorated with a rococo cartouche and an elevation of St. Alban's in Wood Street. Originally produced for the "London Magazine" in 1771, the present (slightly revised) version of the map was utilised in John Noorthouck's part-work "A New History of London including Westminster and Southwark" (London : 1772-1773). Other maps in this series were engraved by Thomas Bowen and this would also appear to be his work.

London : H. Setchel & Son, 1810. A handsome antique print - a view of the Wren church of St. Alban Wood Street as it stood in the early nineteenth century. Engraved by William Johnstone White (fl.1804-1812) from an original drawing (now in the British Museum) by William Pearson (fl.1798-1813). Originally produced for the part-work series "Architectura Ecclesiastica Londini; being a Series of Views" (London : 1810-1823) - "the first artistically competent and exhaustive illustration of the golden age of London church building" (Adams). Below the image are several lines of explanatory text.
Copper line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 267 x 164mm (approx. 10-1/2" x 6-1/2"). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 129/004.
