[Washington : 1856]. A handsome antique print - Jamestown from the sea - shipping in the roads. Lithographed by Napoleon Sarony (1821-1896) from a composite study by Wilhelm Heine, who sketched the island, and an otherwise unidentified artist called Brown who was responsible for the shipping. Originally produced to accompany Francis L. Hawks : "Narrative of the [Perry] Expedition of an American Squadron to the China Seas and Japan" (Washington : 1856).
Tint lithograph on paper. Additional later hand colour. Lithographed surface 169 x 241mm (approx. 6-5/8" x 9-1/2"). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

[London & Edinburgh : A. Fullarton & Co., 1856]. A pleasant antique print - a view of the island, birds whirling, a ship beats out against heavy seas. Engraved by Robert Young (fl.1837-1855) from an original study by the Belfast-born painter Andrew Nicholl. Originally produced for the part-work "A Gazetteer of the World, or, Dictionary of Geographical Knowledge" (Edinburgh & London : 1850-1856).
Steel line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 111 x 150mm (approx. 4-3/8" x 5-7/8"). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.
