HEINE, Wilhelm, 1827-1885 & BROWN, ----- : JAMESTOWN ST HELENA. [Washington : 1856]. A handsome antique print - Jamestown from the sea - shipping in the roads. Lithographed by Napoleon Sarony (1821-1896) from a composite study by Wilhelm Heine, who sketched the island, and an otherwise unidentified artist called Brown who was responsible for the shipping. Originally produced to accompany Francis L. Hawks : "Narrative of the [Perry] Expedition of an American Squadron to the China Seas and Japan" (Washington : 1856). SOLD |

Engraved by Robert Young (fl.1837-1855) from an original study by the Belfast-born painter Andrew Nicholl. Originally produced for the part-work "A Gazetteer of the World, or, Dictionary of Geographical Knowledge" (Edinburgh & London : 1850-1856). SOLD |
