SHEPHERD, George Sidney, 1784-1862 : ST. MARY ALDERMANBURY. London : J. Booth, 1814. A handsome antique print - an exterior view of the Wren church of St. Mary the Virgin, Aldermanbury - now removed to Fulton, Missouri. Engraved by Joseph Skelton (1781?-1850) from original drawings (now in the British Museum and the V&A) by George Sidney Shepherd. Originally produced for the part-work series "Architectura Ecclesiastica Londini; being a Series of Views" (London : 1810-1823) - "the first artistically competent and exhaustive illustration of the golden age of London church building" (Adams). Engraved by Robert Acon (1792-1880) from an original study by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd, the master recorder of nineteenth-century London.
