London : J. Booth, 1814. A handsome antique print - an exterior view of the Wren church of St. Mary the Virgin, Aldermanbury - now removed to Fulton, Missouri. Engraved by Joseph Skelton (1781?-1850) from original drawings (now in the British Museum and the V&A) by George Sidney Shepherd. Originally produced for the part-work series "Architectura Ecclesiastica Londini; being a Series of Views" (London : 1810-1823) - "the first artistically competent and exhaustive illustration of the golden age of London church building" (Adams). Below the image are several lines of explanatory text.
Copper line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 199 x 219mm (approx. 8-1/8" x 8-5/8"). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 129/076.

A pleasant antique print - an exterior view of the Wren church of St. Mary the Virgin, Aldermanbury - now removed to the campus of Westminster College, Fulton, Missouri, as a memorial to Sir Winston Churchill. Engraved by Robert Acon (1792-1880) from an original study by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd, the master recorder of nineteenth-century London. From Shepherd's series "London and its Environs in the Nineteenth Century" (London : 1829-1832).
Steel line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 124 x 147mm (approx. 4-7/8" x 5-3/4"). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 161/086.
