BILLINGS, Robert William, 1815-1874 : ST. PETER’S, SAFFRON HILL.

London : C. Tilt, 1838. A handsome antique print – Saffron Hill and the exterior of the church of St. Peter, built by Charles Barry in 1830-1832. Engraved by John le Keux (1783-1846) from an original study by the painter and architect Robert William Billings. Originally produced for George Godwin’s serially published “The Churches of London” (London : 1837-1839).
Steel line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 173 x 100mm (approx. 6-3/4” x 4”). Some faint marking to blank margins, but otherwise in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 189/067.

[London : Jones & Co., 1832]. A pleasant antique print – a small exterior view of St. Peter Saffron Hill, built by Charles Barry in 1830-1832. Drawn and engraved by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd, the master recorder of ninetenth-century London. From Shepherd’s part-work series “London and its Environs in the Nineteenth Century” (London : 1829-1832).
Steel line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 117 x 70mm (approx. 4-5/8” x 2-3/4”). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 161/187.
