PRATTENT, T. : SECTION OF THE ROTUNDA IN THE BANK OF ENGLAND. London : J. Sewell, 1796. An attractive and uncommon antique print - a cross-section of Soane's domed Rotunda - seemingly taken from his original drawings. The Rotunda served for many years as the market-place for the buying and selling of stocks. Even after 1801, when members of the Stock Exchange opened their own building, this use continued until the Bank finally outlawed the rowdy jobbers and brokers in 1838. Engraved by the London draughtsman, engraver, printer and printseller, T. Prattent (fl.1790-1819), who had premises in Cloth Fair. PUGH, Edward, 1763-1813 : THE ROTUNDA IN THE BANK OF ENGLAND. London : Richard Phillips, 1804. An attractive antique print of Soane's domed Rotunda in the Bank of England - alive with brokers, jobbers, traders and trading. The Rotunda served for many years as the market-place for the buying and selling of stocks. Even after 1801, when members of the Stock Exchange opened their own building, this use continued until the Bank finally outlawed the rowdy jobbers and brokers in 1838.
