ALLOM, Thomas, 1804-1872 : ST. MICHAEL'S CHURCH, STOCKWELL 1860.

[London : Virtue & Co., 1881]. A pleasant antique print - a view of St. Michael and All Angels at Stockwell as it looked shortly after its completion to the designs of William Rogers in 1841. Engraved by the otherwise unrecorded R. Radclyffe from an original study by the gifted artist-architect Thomas Allom. Originally produced for the part-work "History of Surrey" (London : 1840-1848) - and here in the later reissue published between 1878 and 1881.
Steel line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 150 x 102mm (approx. 6" x 4"). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

[London : Privately published, 1824]. A scarce and handsome antique print of the original eighteenth-century St. Andrew's Church at Stockwell, before the extensive Victorian rebuilding. Below the image is a simple ground plan of the church. Lithographed from a study by Charles Burton and originally produced for Charles Thomas Cracklow's "Lithographic Views of all the Churches and Chapels of Ease in the County of Surrey" 1823-1824. Printed by Peter Simonau of Essex Street, off the Strand.
Lithograph on paper. Principal image area 177 x 189mm (approx. 7" x 7-1/2"). Paper a little browned with age; a few small spots, but otherwise in very good state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

A charming antique print - a composite view with a medley of individual studies - an old mansion on Stockwell Common, the old inn on the common, Stockwell Chapel, and Stockwell Manor House. Engraved from original studies by William Henry Prior - and originally produced for the part-work "Old and New London" (London : 1873-1878).
Wood engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 212 x 145mm (approx. 8-3/8" x 5-3/4"). Text on verso. In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

London : Weekly Dispatch, 1862. A pleasant and well-detailed map of this part of south London at a scale of over nine inches to the mile - Clapham Old Town, Clapham High Street, Clapham Rise and much of Stockwell and Brixton - the map extending south to Acre Lane, east beyond Loughborough Road, north to include Albert Square and Lansdowne Circus, and west to the junction of North Street and Wandsworth Road. One of the six supplementary suburban sheets issued to accompany Weller's 1861-1862 map of London.
Lithograph on paper. Printed surface 315 x 439mm (approx. 12-3/8" x 17-1/4"). Trimmed a little close; manuscript number in one corner; minor creasing and old fold; part of the publishers' date stamp at upper left-hand corner, but overall in very good and clean state. Hyde 73.1.
