[FELTHAM, John] : BRIGHTON AND EASTBOURNE.

[London : for Richard Phillips, ca.1810]. A charming small antique map of a portion of the Sussex coast on a scale of about five miles to the inch – New Shoreham, Hove, Brighton (or Brighthelmstone), Rottingdean, Newhaven and Eastbourne – and inland to Hurstpierpoint, Keymer, Ditchling, Chiddingly, Hailsham, etc. Originally produced for John Feltham’s "A Guide to all the Watering and Sea-Bathing Places", published in various editions between 1803 and 1812.
Copper line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 77 x 129mm (approx. 3” x 5”). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

ANTIQUE MAP : SUSSEX.

[MOULE, Thomas, 1784-1851] : SUSSEX.

[London : George Virtue, ca.1845]. One of the most attractive and popular of all antique maps of the county, originally engraved by William Schmollinger (fl.1831-1837) for Moule’s part-work “English Counties Delineated” (London : 1830-1837). With a border of roses and shells, coats of arms, vignette views of Arundel, Brighton and Chichester, and various maritime motifs. Originally engraved in 1832, the present version, showing some development of the railway system, is dated to about 1845.
Steel line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 204 x 263mm. Cropped slightly at right-hand margin, but in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique map.

ORDNANCE SURVEY : CHICHESTER.

Southampton : Ordnance Survey Office, [1868]. A map of Chichester and its environs at a scale of two inches to the mile, extending north to East Lavant, south-east to Merston, and westwards to take in Apuldram, Stockbridge, etc. Produced by the Ordnance Survey in connection with the parliamentary boundary alterations of 1868, the map is coloured to show the existing 1832 boundary, the proposed new boundary, the municipal boundaries and the parish and township boundaries.
Zincograph on paper, with original hand colour. Printed surface 339 x 224mm (approx. 13-1/4” x 8-3/4”). Trimmed tight at foot; a few tiny marks; faint creasing to one corner, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique map.

A map of Horsham and its environs at a scale of one inch to the mile, taking in Rusper, Itchingfield, Slinfold, etc. Produced by the Ordnance Survey in connection with the parliamentary boundary alterations of 1868, the map is coloured to show the existing 1832 boundary, the proposed new boundary, the municipal boundaries and the parish and township boundaries.
Zincograph on paper, with original hand colour. Printed surface 332 x 220mm (approx. 13” x 8-3/4”). Trimmed tight at foot; a few tiny marks; short tear at one margin, just touching the map; slight creasing, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique map.
